Halloween time!

The kids had a fun Halloween! A few days before Halloween we went to a local pumpkin walk and enjoyed seeing the pumpkin displays. Lydia and Rachel had a kindergarten party and Charity had a preschool party and I was able to go and help with both of these. The kids managed to find a small amount of time when it wasn't pouring rain and they went out trick-or-treating for a little while. They didn't get too far before it started raining again, but they didn't mind. Soaking wet candy is better than no candy at all!

ghost until a few days before Halloween)

Hyrum the Pumpkin

On a different note, as you can tell from the picture below, Hyrum needed a haircut...actually he needed one a long time ago but we just didn't get around to cutting it until a couple weeks ago.

We think he looks pretty handsome!

Think Pink

As I'm sure all of you have noticed, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am so grateful for the advancements that have been made in cancer detection and treatment. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and has now been in remission for two years! I love her and I'm so grateful for all the help that she gives to my family and for the wonderful example that she has always been to me.

A Big Accomplishment!

Kenny completed his first full marathon on Saturday! His brother Cory was able to come up and run also. They both did great! I am so proud of Kenny and his dedication to accomplishing this goal.

The girls were so excited to see their Daddy run past, and
they watched intently to be sure we didn't miss him.
We weren't proud at all....not one bit!

Way to go Kenny and Cory!

School Days

It seems hard to believe that Rachel and Lydia are old enough to start Kindergarten! They are absolutely loving it and are excited each day to go to school. Charity started going to preschool as well and she is really enjoying it. She always wants to be like her big sisters so she loves that she goes to school too.

Lydia

Rachel

As you can see, they opted to go as "twins" for their first
day of school. After I took this picture they even decided
that they should wear the same shoes so that the teacher
couldn't distinguish between them by looking at their feet.

Charity

As for this little guy...he's growing up too. He surprised us this week and
slept through the night for the first time....TWICE! Let's just hope he can
turn this into a trend. None of his sisters consistently slept through the
night until they were between 9 and 12 months old. I would not mind
if Hyrum decided to pull this one off a few months earlier!

Playing catch up

I can't seem to keep up on blogging, so here is yet another miscellaneous post showcasing what's been going on with us recently.

Here are the kids in their patriotic attire for the 4th of July
(maybe someday we'll figure out how to get all 4 of
them to smile and look at the camera at once )

Watching a parade

Going on a hike

We went down to Salt Lake for a couple of days. We went to Temple Square while we were there.

We also went to the Children's Discovery Museum at the Gateway.
Our children's concentration level can be measure by
how far their tongues are sticking out.

We also went to the zoo.

What kid doesn't love a family reunion
with quality time with their cousins?

I can't believe Hyrum is already three months old

We spent some time at Bear Lake. Lydia and Rachel loved trying to catch little fish and Charity loved collecting seashells.

I love this picture! This little guy already
looks up to his Daddy.

The best 8 years ever!

It is so crazy how time flies! Kenny and I have been married for eight wonderful years! Kenny is truly the man of my dreams and I love him so much.

This is by far our favorite wedding picture. This was
taken in one shot without any aid from Photoshop.

Month in Review

I realized that it has been almost a month since I last posted and a lot has happened since then.

Lydia and Rachel graduated from preschool

We continue to have three excellent helpers who insist that we
do everything for Hyrum under their constant supervision.

Kenny ran in the Ogden half marathon with his siblings
and their spouses. He did a great job and I'm really proud of him.

Lydia and Rachel learned how to ride a two-wheel bike
without training wheels. All three of the girls wish that
they could ride their bikes all day long!

We took Hyrum to church for the first time and I
couldn't resist posting this picture of him with his
handsome Dad and their stellar smiles!

Did I say smiles? No parent can resist trying
to catch those first smiles on camera!

Hyrum's blessing day was on Sunday. In our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), babies names are recorded on the records of the Church and they also receive a special blessing by the power of the priesthood.

He looked so handsome!

Happy Birthday Charity!

I can't believe that Charity just turned 3 years old! She had a great birthday and really loved all the extra attention. During the day she kept asking, "Is is still my birthday?" and was thrilled that her birthday lasted all day long. We love her and are so grateful she's part of our family.

Here she is as a baby....she's sure grown up a lot!

Her new Cinderella glass slippers were a hit!

As for other happenings, Lydia and Rachel just had their first ballet recital. They did a great job and smiled so well while they were on stage. It was such a joy to watch them.

Hyrum is still growing really well. The girls are such good helpers and always want to be around him. The picture below shows what can happen when a little boy joins a family with all sisters....while he was sleeping his sisters tried some doll clothes on him- complete with pink purse and shoes!
