Whirlwind Weekend

I've been meaning to post about a fun weekend we had a few weeks ago but I haven't gotten around to it until now. Kenny and I were able to go see a play in Ford's Theatre. The theatre has been under renovation for awhile and just barely reopened. We saw a play about Abraham Lincoln that was written especially for Lincoln's 200th birthday and the grand reopening of Ford's Theatre. It was a really neat experience.

This is the box seat where Lincoln was shot.

The next day was Engineering Family Day at the National Building Museum in downtown D.C. Being that Kenny is an engineer, he was excited to take the kids to this. There were a lot of great hands-on activities for kids in all different engineering fields. Lydia and Rachel turned out to be little engineers and had a lot of fun.

Later that day, my parents came to visit us for a few days. We really enjoyed having them here with us and I appreciated all the help they gave us while they were here (including my mom single-handedly mending every last clothing item in my mountainous mending pile that I had left for months and just couldn't seem to find time to do....thanks Mom!).

I loved Ford's theater. We happened to go the week before it was closed down for renovations. Glad it's opened up in time for you to visit. Kenny left a funny comment on our blog. So aren't you guys coming to the end of your time in D.C.? I was thinking we wouldn't see you even if we had matched in the East...
