So much to see!

We are just having a blast seeing all that we can during our time here in the Washington D.C. area. We just hope we'll eventually get to everything on our ever growing list! Here are a few highlights of some of our recent outings.

This is the U.S. Air Force Memorial. It was just
dedicated in 2006 and is located near the Pentagon.

The National Cathedral

One view from inside the cathedral. It's a
non-denominational cathedral and is used
for many things, including funerals of some of
our past presidents.

Here Lydia and Rachel are driving a firetruck at
Clemyjontri Park. This is an amazing park with all kinds
of playground equipment. There is also a carousel that
is free on weekdays.

Even Charity loved the carousel. This was by far the kids
favorite thing. I think we rode on it six or seven times!

Stars and Stripes Forever

We had a great Fourth of July! It's really neat to see the fireworks in the nation's capital. We decided not to fight the crowds directly on the mall. Instead we watched the fireworks from across the Potomac River. It was great...we had an awesome view, no crowds, and we were home by 10:00!

Here we are waiting for the fireworks to begin

we are to live in the United States

Look Mom, no hands!

Charity is now walking! She's actually been at it for a few weeks now. She can walk quite a bit but sometimes gets impatient and gets back down on all fours since she's a fast crawler. Here's a short clip that shows just a few steps before she decides to crawl. She does walk longer than this, we just haven't caught it on video yet.

Monuments Galore

It's a well known fact that Washington D.C. is jam-packed with monuments and memorials. Recently, we've been trying to hit a few of them. So here are some pictures from some ultra famous and also some lesser known memorials.

Lincoln Memorial

Jefferson Memorial

World War II Memorial- This one is fairly new.

FDR Memorial- He must have really liked his dog.
All of our girls liked the pooch too!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

We sure love our three girls. They are all really good friends to each other. They are also always coming up with fun things to do. Here are a few recent instances.

Our three girls piled into the toy bin

All three of our girls love to look at books. Lydia and Rachel
really enjoy checking out books from the library. One day I
found them cuddled up together enjoying their new reads.

Charity has discovered that she can disorganize my
kitchen cupboards with greater ease if she climbs
into them. That way she can reach all the way to
the back of the cupboard and leave no can unturned.

There is Beauty All Around

Virginia is such a beautiful place! Everything is so green. Forests just naturally grow around here, instead of fields of sagebrush. Recently, we've checked out a couple of beautiful parks and here are some pictures.

We went for a walk through this beautiful park that is
just a couple minutes from our house.

This was taken at Riverbend Park, near Great Falls National Park.
We had a picnic here with Aaron and Rachelle (friends that went
to high school with Kenny) and their kids.

Also at Riverbend Park...you'd think we could have at least
gotten one of the kids to look at the camera!

Happy Birthday Charity!

Charity just celebrated her first birthday! Boy, time really flies! She seemed to enjoy the day and loved playing with the balloons, bows, wrapping paper, and her new presents. She especially enjoyed devouring her cupcake! We all had a fun day!
